Dharanie Shankar R is an experienced software engineer with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Trichy. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at IIM Bangalore. Dharanie has worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute in Bangalore. She was a core member of the Bixby Client team in the IoT R&D division, responsible for the device-side code of Bixby in smart speakers and watches. She was instrumental in the development and performance optimization of Bixby in Watch and supported Speech-to-text and Text-to-speech service frameworks running in TizenOS in smartwatches. She also collaborated with app developers from Samsung Bangladesh and South Korea and integrated four critical apps. In her past roles at Samsung, Dharanie was a Software Engineer in the Bixby Client team, where she integrated Bixby in low-memory microcontroller boards that run in RTOS. She was also a Summer Intern where she implemented the ETC1 compression algorithm for rendering images while fast-scrolling in the browser application. She was awarded a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) after completing the internship. Dharanie's technical skills include software development, data structures & algorithms, C, and C++.
